BUTOH : WOVEN PROJECT

This woven project draws inspiration from the Japanese dance form Butoh, emphasizing transformation, impermanence, and the expression of emptiness. Natural elements are woven directly into the fabric, with emptiness treated as a blank canvas that offers boundless creative possibilities. Forms inspired by nature emerge organically, infusing life and meaning into the weaving process. The final piece embodies the essence of natural elements in a distinctive and artistic manner.

Two contrasting colors from the mood board were selected, with inspiration drawn from their striking juxtaposition to create a unique and visually compelling design.

This design draws inspiration from the word “crippling,” taken from the mood board, aiming to translate its essence into a tactile and visual experience through the woven structure.

The technique from the previous woven piece with the hibiscus flower was applied here, but with the Clitoria flower. This change resulted in a striking, vibrant blue hue, introducing a fresh and vivid dimension to the design.

Two colors from the chosen color palette were used to create a simple inlay weave, maintaining the same approach as in the previous piece.

The same process as earlier was used for the final sample with the red hibiscus, maintaining consistency in technique and approach.
The same process as earlier was applied to the final sample with the pink hibiscus, ensuring consistency in technique and execution.

" Many people died who i liked so much and also influenced me , but i did not want to tell them that you are dead . so now you are in me more active , alive than before ."

This sample is inspired by the idea of imprinting, where indigo powder was applied with my fingers, and the sample was woven in a way that allowed the prints to transfer onto the fabric.
