In this woven project, I drew inspiration from the Japanese dance form Butoh, which emphasizes transformation, impermanence, and finding expression in emptiness. Embracing this philosophy, I aim to weave natural elements directly into the fabric. Treating emptiness as a blank canvas opens up boundless creative possibilities, allowing forms inspired by nature to emerge organically. This approach infuses life and meaning into the weaving process, so the final piece embodies the essence of natural elements in a distinctive and artistic way.
EXPLORATIONS

I drew inspiration from a word on my moodboard, ‘CRIPPLING,’ and sought to integrate its essence into my weaving. Employing a technique of weaving in a pattern of four up and four down, I then secured the weave by tying knots, causing the threads to bend towards the knot, symbolizing the concept of ‘CRIPPLING’ within the fabric itself.

I decided to experiment with two contrasting colors from my moodboard, drawing inspiration from their juxtaposition to create something unique.

My first exploration with rose petals withing the weave . And then i put some alum water on top of it to soak in as my threads didn't had alum in it . than i wrapped it around in cellophane to protect it from sun until i take it out

In an attempt to infuse my weave with the vibrant hues of hibiscus petals, I incorporated them into the fabric. However, despite treating the petals with alum water and sealing them in cellophane during the weaving process, upon unveiling the finished weave, I discovered that the petals had begun to rot inside, resulting in the loss of their color.

This is the sample where i realised where i was making the mistakes. All i had to do  is to use a bit of water for the extract to release smoothly and for staying i just had to wrap it in a cloth and not cerane wrap.

Here i have tried to make two stripes of red hibiscuss and pink hibiscuss just to show theat even though we might think the are kind of similar they have different versions of themselves .

Here i tried to take a word from my moodboard cripling and try to creat something that could feel like it

Same process i used in this sample which i used for hibiscuss flower but here i changed the flower . its a Clitoria flower i used . which gave me this bright blue colour .

Here i took two colours from my colour pallate and wove simple enlay weave.

Here i used the same process as earlier for the final sample with Red hibiscuss .

Many people died who i liked so much and also influenced me , but i did not want to tell them that you are dead . so now you are in me more active , alive than before .

This sample is based from this quote where i took some indigo powder in my fingers and wove the sapmle in a way to pass my prints on the piece.
